Our Nursery in Leighton Buzzard is set in a large Victorian property within the grounds of the garden centre. It has a lovely homely feel whilst still being very spacious. There is ample parking and a large garden area which the children love.

Rochelle is the Manager and this is what she would like to tell you about the Nursery.

Dear Parents

I have been at Head Start in Leighton Buzzard for the past 10 years starting as a Nursery Nurse and working my way up to Manager. My team are a group of experienced dedicated childcare professionals. We are all committed to providing the highest quality of care and education for your child. We have an open door policy and like to involve you in as much or as little a part of the Nursery as you wish.

From the time you arrive at our door you will be guaranteed a warm welcome. We care for children from 3 months to 5 years of age and are open from 8.00 am to 6.00pm. Apart form our exceptional childcare, we also offer something most other nurseries don't which is complete flexibility! We aim to cater for the needs of today's parents whether they are just going to the gym or shopping for as few hours, or going to work full time and every time in between!

The top floor or our Nursery is for the youngest children in our care. The Happy Hedgehogs are encouraged to choose from an abundance of activities and equipment carefully chosen to meet their individual needs in a safe secure environment. We have a separate sleep room in order to ensure your baby rests peacefully when they need to. We have a soft play and ball area to encourage your child to explore and develop physically. We have a quiet area, home corner and lots of messy play!

Soon your child will be ready for new challenges and experiences as they move into the Busy Bee rooms downstairs. Here your child will be given the opportunity to make new discoveries and experience the joy of learning new skills for themselves. We have sand and water play, home corner, art area, book corner, small world area and even a separate sensory room where the Busy Bees rest aftar all their activities.

Finally your child will be ready to take a step further and move into the Wise Owl rooms. We have the six areas of learning required for the Early Years Foundation Stage available at all times; some of the favourites are the computer, cooking, malleable play and role play. Here there is loads going on and your child will be able to choose numerous activities whilst also being expertly guided in all areas to achieve their full potential and be ready for….BIG SCHOOL!

Our Nursery cook provides delicious meals and is a firm favourite with the children! She will happily discuss any dietary requirements your child may have. We also involve parents in the menu reviews in order to achieve as wide as choice as possible for all the children.

We take children on small trips especially to the garden centre to look at the animals and plants, plus further a field to the petting farm, large soft play centre and even the pantomime.
